Shin & Kim Holds Seminar on Russian Economy

 

On January 27, 2015, Shin & Kim participated in a joint seminar entitled “Seminar on Russian Economic Status and Outlook” with the Korean Chamber of Commerce. The seminar was intended to facilitate Korean businesses’ understanding of Russia’s current economic conditions and identify risks and opportunities of doing business in Russia.

The first session of the seminar addressed the current status and future outlook of the Russian economy in the wake of the imposition of economic sanctions on the country, particularly focusing on the possibility of Korean companies entering into the Russian market. The second session addressed causes of the recent drop in oil prices which had a significant impact on the Russian economy and impending business implications.

In the last session, Shin & Kim’s Russian attorney, Tae-Rim Lee, gave a presentation on risks and opportunities of doing business in Russia currently under the impact of sanctions, while presenting a broader outlook on the business environment including the subjects addressed in the first two sessions.

The seminar was touted as highly informative by 180 officers and employees of various companies who attended the seminar, as it presented ways in which Korean companies can successfully advance into the Russian economy amidst western sanctions and explored advantages and opportunities of doing business in the country.
