Mr. Dong-Uk Shin is a partner of Shin & Kim, who specializes in real estate & construction, litigation & arbitration, as well as all areas of business crime, including professional regulation & discipline. He also advises on veterans-related issues.

Prior to joining Shin & Kim and for nearly 21 years, Mr. Shin served as a military judge, prosecutor, and as a judicial officer in various capacities within the Korean government, including Ministry of National Defense, Republic of Korea Navy, Korea Naval Operations Command, Jeju Defense Command, among others.

Currently, Mr. Shin is also an adjunct professor at Kwangwoon University’s Graduate School of Legal Affairs in Construction. He has also been appointed to the Construction Management Association of Korea’s (Korea CM Association or “CMAK”) performance review/advisory board. Mr. Shin is also serving as a member of the Ministry of Defense Veterans Review Committee.

• Represented and won the court’s approval in the case of provisional injunction for the suspension of the bid procedure by the Armed Forces Financial Management Corps.
• Advised and litigated criminal case on the selection of construction companies as project operators of urban development projects (decided not guilty)
• Represented and won the claim for damages related to a turnkey project of the Ministry of National Defense
• Advised and litigated the scope of responsibility of the contractor of a construction company
• Advised and represented client in a fair trade case on subcontracts of construction companies
• Advised and litigated case of Urban Rearrangement Act violation by executives of a construction company (decided not guilty)
• Represented a client in a case of fraud related to coin transactions (decided not guilty)
• Represented a client in KCAB Arbitration case on a claim for damages of a construction company
