Mr. Gwang Byeong Jeong is a partner at Shin & Kim’s Corporate/Criminal Affairs Group.

Prior to joining Shin & Kim, Mr. Jeong served as a public prosecutor for 11 years, including Seoul Southern District Public Prosecutor’s Office, Seoul Northern District Public Prosecutor’s Office and in several regional offices(e.g., Yeoju Branch of Suwon District Public Prosecutor’s Office, Gwangju District Public Prosecutor’s Office, Jeju District Public Prosecutor’s Office). He also worked as a visiting scholar at the University of Tokyo in Japan for one year.

During his tenure as a public prosecutor, Mr. Jeong was mainly responsible for investigations related to finance and securities, industrial safety, election, labor, and tax.

• Represented and won the dismissal of the court warrant by presenting compelling arguments in a 14 billion Won worth fraud case and another case of similar charges where the arrest warrant had already been issued
• Represented in a complaint claiming obstruction of business, won an appeal seeking a re-investigation order against the prosecutor’s non-indictment decision, and subsequently won the indictment decision by presenting compelling arguments in the re-inspection process
• Represented various suspects and won non-indictment decisions, including a case where a teacher was sued for child abuse by the parents of the child who attended after-school classes
• Represented clients in major cases including the case of violation of the Political Fund Act by incumbent members of the National Assembly and the case of occupational breach of trust by business owners
• Advised on multiple white-collar crime issues
• Represented clients in cases of the violation of the Capital Markets Act, including the case of use of material nonpublic information (in progress)
• Advised on multiple serious accident cases (in progress)
