Introduction

Ms. Hyun-Jeong Ahn is a partner at Shin & Kim. Ms. Ahn’s practice focuses on legislative consulting, regulatory reform in emerging technologies and industries, antitrust, and personal information protection.

As a member of Shin & Kim’s Legislative and Government Affairs Team, she provides advice on the formulation and revision of laws and regulations, policy proposals, comprehensive government relations support with a focus on regulatory matters, and assistance in responding to National Assembly audits and inspections.

Ms. Ahn actively participates in the government’s regulatory reform projects in the areas of emerging technologies and industries, and serves as a member of the Mobility Innovation Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport. She also advises the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on legal advice for cases related to the Industrial Convergence Regulatory Sandbox and the Legislative Review Task Force, as well as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport on regulatory reforms for national pilot smart cities. She also represents clients in matters related to the designation of the ICT Convergence Regulatory Sandbox by the Ministry of Science and ICT and relevant regulatory reforms.

With respect to the antitrust area, Ms. Ahn has provided counsel on a broad spectrum of regulation issues, including holding company & business group policy, unfair support, unfair trade practices, cartels, merger control, franchise transactions, subcontracts, terms and conditions, labeling and advertisements. Also, Ms. Ahn actively represents clients in fair trade related litigations as well as investigation, deliberation and mediation procedures of the Fair Trade Commission and Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency.

With respect to the privacy & data protection area, her main works focus on the Personal Information Protection Act, the Act on Information and Communications Network, the Location Data Protection Act, and the Credit Information Act. She provides advice to the relevant institutions, such as the Personal Information Protection Commission, the Korea Communications Commission, and the Korea Internet & Security Agency.
