Mr. Gyu-Seok Baek is the head of the Environmental Future Strategy Center at Shin & Kim, and his practice focuses on environmental regulatory response, consultation on development project site and environmental assessment, environmental future strategy including ESG management and greenhouse gas reduction, environmental enforcement response, and automotive and mobility.

Mr. Baek served in various positions in the government, including the head of the Planning and Coordination Office, head of the Environmental Policy Office, chief of the Nature Conservation Bureau and chief of the Resources Circulation Bureau of the Ministry of Environment, Environmental Senior Officer of Presidential Secretariat, and the chief of the Government Project Bureau of the Presidential Commission on Sustainable Development. From his services, Mr. Baek has acquired extensive and in-depth knowledge and experience in theoretical, legal, and practical matters, including consultation on environmental impact assessment for large-scale development projects, establishment and management of governance for environmental dispute resolution and complaint handling, and management of sites that emit various environmental pollutants such as air pollutants, water pollutants, chemicals, and wastes. In particular, in recent years, he has played a leading role in the introduction of advanced environmental systems such as chemical regulation, environmental pollution damage relief, introduction of emission trading system for climate change response/carbon neutrality, environmental regulation of automobiles and promotion of electric vehicles, and integrated management of pollutant-discharging facilities, playing a pivotal role in the entire system introduction process from system design to stakeholder consultation and persuasion to law enactment.
