Mr. Dong-Yun Kang is a customs advisor at Shin & Kim. After graduating from the Customs Department of the National Tax College in 1990, he worked at the Seoul Main Customs, the Incheon Airport Customs, and the Gwangju Main Customs for approximately 23 years until August 2012 where he was mainly responsible for customs investigation (customs audit). Mr. Kang, who was a senior specialist officer for key areas designated by the Korea Customs Service (comprehensive audit and post-clearance audit), is a leading customs expert equipped with a wide range of experiences of customs audit in various sectors, including his service as a post-clearance audit professor at the Customs Human Resources Development Institute and customs audit works relating to various fields such as imported cars, liquor and tobacco, sports and luxury goods, oil and petrochemicals, food distribution, shipbuilding and marine shipping, IT, and medical devices.

While he worked at A-One Customs & Trade Service as the head of the Consulting Division from September 2012 to October 2022, he provided customs consulting services to companies in various industries. More specifically, for approximately 100 companies, he advised on responses to customs investigation (audit) and foreign exchange investigation, FTA verification, tax return rectification through accurate taxable price and item classification, drawback maintenance through prior examination of requirements, handling of objection such as request for examination or adjudication, refund of duty overpaid through authoritative interpretation of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Korea Customs Service, etc., response to comprehensive review against companies certified as AEOs (Authorized Economic Operators), and proposal of solutions based on the results of pre-diagnosis on customs.
