Mr. Jiwon Jung is currently a senior advisor at Shin & Kim. For about 30 years since he had started his career as a public official in 1985, Mr. Jung worked at the Ministry of Finance, the Board of Finance and Economy, and the Financial Services Commission, where he was extensively involved in various fields related to finance. In particular, he was responsible for stabilizing the financial markets amid the IMF crisis by establishing the NPL Resolution Fund and recapitalizing financial companies, and during the global financial crisis in late 2008, he was in charge of corporate restructuring in the shipbuilding, shipping, and construction industries.
From late 2015, Mr. Jung served as Chairman & CEO of Korea Securities Finance Corporation for two years, contributing to the stable management of investor deposits and the transformation of Korea Securities Finance Corporation into a premier comprehensive securities financial services organization in the capital market. For three years from 2017, he served as Chairman & CEO of the Korea Exchange, where he strived to revitalize the capital market so that promising companies with technology and potential growth could successfully list on the KOSDAQ market. For three years from 2020, he served as Chairman & CEO of the General Insurance Association of Korea, where he was involved in the amendment of the Insurance Business Act for simplified (computerized) medical indemnity insurance claims, and contributed significantly to the development of the non-life insurance industry through deregulation and the identification of new growth engines.
Mr. Jung has accumulated extensive experience and expertise in the field of banking, securities, and insurance in both the public and private sectors over the past 38 years.
