Mr. Hun-Tae Doh is currently a partner in the tax group of Shin & Kim. He has served for 20 years as a judge and chief judge at various levels of courts, including at the Supreme Court (General Tax Researcher), Seoul Central District Court (Bankruptcy Division), and Suwon District Court (Administrative Division), and joined Shin & Kim in 2024.
During his service as the General Tax Researcher in the Tax Department of the Supreme Court for five years, Mr. Doh conducted in-depth research on tax cases in all fields, including national tax, local tax, international tax, customs, and criminal tax law, contributing to the establishment of Supreme Court precedents. Additionally, he was in charge of trials on tax administration cases in various fields, including national and local taxes at Suwon District Court and Ulsan District Court. In addition, while working at the Bankruptcy Division of the Seoul Central District Court (presently the Seoul Bankruptcy Court) for three years, he handled various bankruptcy cases, including corporate rehabilitation, and accumulated considerable expertise in the field of bankruptcy as well as taxation.
Mr. Doh received a master's degree in bankruptcy-related taxation research from Korea University Graduate School, and continues his research on tax law at Seoul National University Law School (Ph.D. course on tax law). He has published numerous papers on tax law and also has written commentaries on bankruptcy, including the Commentary on the Debtors' Rehabilitation Act (co-authored). He has lectured on tax litigation and tax precedents to experts such as judges and lawyers at the Judicial Research and Training Institute, Seoul High Court, Seoul Administrative Court, University of Seoul, National Police University, etc., and is currently actively participating in exchanges with academia while serving as a Vice Chairman of Korean Tax Law Association and a board member of the Korea International Tax Association.
