On July 9, 2014, SHIN&KIM and the Korea Housing Association held a seminar on "Rational Solutions to Shared Housing Defects and Analysis of Lawsuits for Construction Site Accidents."
As the number of defect repair disputes is rising amid increasing shared housing and more attention is given to safety, the seminar was held to explore measures to resolve such matters.
The seminar, marking its third year, garnered great interest and participation from executives and employees of construction companies, offering timely legal information on current and major issues identified by the Construction ∙Real Estate ∙PF Practice Group of SHIN & KIM.
At Session I, Yonghee Jeon presented on the following topics: legal issues relating to construction site accidents; work safety accidents and criminal punishment, administrative sanctions and civil liabilities; and analysis of work safety accident cases (eg. collapse of a building under construction). At Session II, Jae-Yun Yun presented on the following topics: structure of defect liability and changes in applicable laws; relationship between the Act on Ownership and Management of Aggregate Buildings (AOMAB) and the Housing Act, and legal relationships under the amended AOMAB; and matters relating to shared housing defects.
