Mr. Jai Hoon Lee is a partner at Shin & Kim, and he is an expert in police investigation, having served as a police officer for 30 years and mostly in the investigation field.
During his service, Mr. Lee was responsible for not only criminal cases involving drugs and gambling but also for special areas such as foreign investigations, cyber investigations, security investigations, and tracking criminal proceeds. In 2021, he joined Shin & Kim after serving as a superintendent general at the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency.
While serving as a police officer, he established and trained the Industrial Technology Leakage Investigation Unit, and as a digital forensic expert (EnCase) and virtual currency tracing expert (Chainalysis), he studied the latest investigative techniques to contribute to the development of police investigations, worked as a foreign affairs and overseas consul, and formed a network with Interpol and the foreign police to lay the foundation for international cooperation investigations.
Currently, he is a practicing lawyer at Shin & Kim and is also an instructor at the Police Investigation Training Institute, a human rights commissioner at the Korea Coast Guard, and a dispute resolution commissioner for industrial property rights at the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
Mr. Lee’s main areas of practice include responding to general investigations such as homicide, violence, breach of trust, and embezzlement, special areas such as cyber tracking, corporate security such as technology and trade secret infringement, virtual currency-related incidents, maritime incidents, and all areas of investigation at the police level, including Interpol and international cooperation for response to cross-border crimes in the global society.
