Mr. Chanyoung Cho is a partner at Shin & Kim, mainly practicing in the areas of Labor and Employment, General Tax Consulting, Administrative Disputes, General Criminal Defense and Japan.
From 2003 to 2025, Mr. Cho served as a judge at the Seoul High Court and the Court Library (Investigation Review Officer) for approximately 22 years before retiring as a high court judge (presiding judge) at the Seoul High court.
Mr. Cho was involved in the judgment of major ordinary wage cases, worker dispatch cases, and collective bargaining - related cases for three years at the Seoul High Court’s Labor Department (High Court Judge), and was mainly in charge of labor and corporate - related cases, including handling corporate cases at the Seoul High court’s Commercial and Corporate Law Department (Associate Judge). While serving as a presiding judge for three years at the Seoul High Court (Presiding Judge), he was in charge of major administrative cases related to financial institutions and companies, as well as tax and land expropriation cases. The Seoul High Court (Presiding Judge, Assistant Judge) handled criminal appeal cases twice, and the District Court handled various civil, criminal, and administrative cases, including warrants.
During one year of training at Tokyo University in Japan, he learned about Japanese law and disputes related to Japan, and while working as an investigator at the Court Library, he was in charge of investigating and collecting Supreme Court precedents and studying concise and sophisticated legal sentences.
He was selected as an “Excellent Judge” in the 2017 Judicial Evaluation conducted by the Seoul Bar Association.
