On June 19, 2014, the Information Protection Practice Group of SHIN&KIM held a seminar on “Amendments of Personal Information Protection Laws and Responsive Measures.”

At Session I of the seminar, Partner Jongsoo Yoon presented on the following topics: an overview of personal information protection laws; amendments of major personal information protection laws; and governance of personal information protection. At Session II, Partner Su-Yong Jung presented on the following topics: the contents of the amended Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, Etc. (APICNUIP) and the amended Financial Holding Companies Act; applicable scope of the amended APICNUIP; application of laws; and regulation of B2B transmission of personal information.

Mr. Yoon served as an assistant administrator for the Research Group for Judicial Informationization and is currently a member of the Personal Information Protection Commission and the Investigation and Analysis Committee, dealing with matters relating to personal information protection and information security. Mr. Jung advises on personal information matters based on his diverse work experience, including advice on information transmission among conglomerates’ affiliates, personal information leakage accidents, and enactment and amendment of information protection laws.
