Mr. Sejong Kim is a Parner at Shin & Kim, mainly practicing in the areas of Financial Disputes, Corporate Governance and Management Disputes , Corporate Investigation & White Collar Crime, General Criminal Defense, and Criminal Litigation.
During his 24-year judicial career from 2001 to 2025, Mr. Kim served as a judge at the Seoul Southern District Court, the Seoul Central District Court, and the Daegu District Court, as the chief of General Secretariat of the Sentencing Commission of Korea, as the director of judicial procedure at the National Court Administration, and as a judge (presiding judge, chief judge) at the Seoul High Court, and as the expert and senior expert counsel of the Sentencing Commission of Korea. After retiring from the judiciary, he joined Shin & Kim as a partner attorney in March 2025.
As a high court judge (presiding judge, chief judge) of the Seoul High Court, Mr. Kim served in the Criminal (Corruption) and Civil (Commercial and Corporate) Divisions, where he handled various criminal cases, such as presidential bribery cases, as well as a wide range of corporate and financial cases including financial damages, and corporate disputes; as the chief of General Secretariat, as the expert and senior expert counsel of the Sentencing Commission of Korea, he handled sentencing matters; and as a director of judicial procedure at the National Court Administration, he handled judicial administration related to criminal trials. During his tenure as a high court judge, he was twice recognized as an Outstanding Judge by the Seoul Bar Association.
