Shin & Kim has been picked as one of the ten law firms to watch in 2010 (ALB 2010 Watchlist) by Asia Legal Business (ALB), a world renowned legal magazine.
ALB pointed to the following as the reasons for Shin & Kim’s admission:
- Shin & Kim is aiming to become a mega-firm in 2010 through mergers, and it is the very real possibility of a mega-merger that is exciting. The firm is seeking a synergy with its market-leading banking & finance, securities and M&A practices and has highlighted litigation, IP and health and pharmaceuticals as key areas in any merger.
- Shin & Kim is focused on international dispute resolution, which has strong growth potential. The firm hired Benjamin Hughes, a former Shearman & Sterling lawyer who has expertise in the area, and the hire will no doubt bring additional capability to its international dispute resolution group.
- Shin & Kim will open its second PRC office in Shanghai in March this year in addition to seeking out alliance partners in emerging markets such as Vietnam, Central Asia and Russia.
