Mr. Hyeong-Jun Kim focuses his practice on advising Japanese affairs and Japanese-owned companies. Mr. Kim learned Japanese culture and customs through extensive interactions with Japanese acquaintances as president of the Korean-Japanese International Students Association while studying abroad in Japan, and after graduation, he worked in Japan at Samsung C&T Corporation and served as a lecturer for Japanese affairs at the International Management Institute of Samsung Group.
Prior to joining Shin & Kim, Mr. Kim served for about eight years as the first president of Daiwa Resorts Korea, a subsidiary of Japan's Daiwa House Group, where he was responsible for sales, marketing and public relations, and also served as vice chairman of the Korea Association of Foreign Business Executives. Mr. Kim also worked at the Blue House as Secretary to the Senior Secretary for Public Relations (Presidential Press Secretary), where he was responsible for assisting and responding to the press inside and outside the Blue House.
Mr. Kim served as a standing auditor for Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. and promoted business alliances with major Japanese construction companies. He was also a visiting researcher at the Institute of Regional Economics, Fukui Prefectural University, Japan, and later served as Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Osaka, Japan. He was a special research fellow at the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda University, Japan, and an advisory board member of the Department of International Public Policy Studies, Osaka University.
