Pham Minh Tien

Mr. Pham Minh Tien is a foreign attorney at Shin & Kim (Hanoi Office) whose practice focuses on dispute resolution, including commercial arbitration, litigation, and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings in Vietnam.

Mr. Tien graduated with Distinction from Hanoi Law University, majoring in the High-Quality Law Program. He is a licensed lawyer and a member of the Hanoi Bar Association. Prior to joining Shin & Kim, he worked as an Associate at several top-tier law firms specializing in dispute resolution, including IDVN Lawyers and Bizlink Lawyers.

Mr. Tien has over five years of experience in practicing law in Vietnam, primarily focusing on dispute resolution, including commercial arbitration and litigation. He has been involved in advising and representing clients in resolving commercial disputes by means of court litigation, arbitration, and other ADRs, recognition and enforcement of foreign court judgments and arbitral awards, and other complex corporate matters.

Mr. Tien has completed with distinction various arbitration courses organized by Vietnam Academy for Arbitration (VAArb) and Vietnam Institute of International Arbitration (VIArb).

• Advised and represented a main contractor against claims initiated by a foreign subcontractor in an arbitration case at Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) related to an EPS contract in a coalfired thermal power plant project in Vietnam.
• Advised and represented a state-owned bank before a Vietnamese court in a case regarding recovering an outstanding debt valued over US$ 19,000,000 arising from two loan agreements and a credit agreement.
• Advised and represented a joint venture as the person with related interests and obligations before Vietnamese courts in a white-collar criminal case related to crime of violating regulations on resource exploitation with a disputed amount of US$ 11 million.
• Advised and represented a Korean Consortium as the plaintiff before Vietnamese courts against a state-owned bank to claim payment of advance guarantees related to construction sub-contract.
• Advised and represented a joint venture before the Vietnamese courts to request the refusal of the recognition and enforcement of a foreign arbitral award with an amount of US$ 2 million.
• Advised and represented a local company in an arbitration case at Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) in a commercial dispute over an economic contract on leasing and operating concrete batching plant.
