SHIN & KIM News

The Shin & Kim Public Interest Legal Support Center successfully completed its Tricycle Legal Education Program

The Shin & Kim Public Interest Legal Support Center (“the Center”) successfully completed its Tricycle Legal Education Program from June to August 2025, in which the firm’s attorneys visited in person to give practical legal lectures to young adults who were transitioning out of institutional care and preparing for independence. The Tricycle program was designed to share essential legal knowledge on housing, employment, working, higher education, government support programs, and crime prevention with young adults formerly under state care (previously referred to as “aged-out orphaned youth”).

Unlike most existing education programs that have been concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area, the Center’s initiative reached across the nation - including Muan, Hamyang, Busan, Gunsan, Gwangju, Gimhae, Daegu, and Daejeon. A key feature that sets Shin & Kim’s program apart is that their attorneys traveled to these locations to deliver lectures and engage in hands-on training, such as drafting lease agreements with these young people.

Over the course of two months, 18 attorneys from the Center visited 19 institutions, while a total of 40 institutions and more than 350 participants took part in the program. Through this initiative, young adults preparing for independence gained practical knowledge in areas such as lease agreements, employment contracts, and everyday legal issues. This foundation of real-world legal literacy is expected to empower them to plan their futures with greater stability and confidence.
