Introduction

Tae Young Lee is currently a senior patent attorney in Shin & Kim’s Litigation Practice Group, focusing on patent trial and litigation as well as related technical evaluation and counseling in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Ms. Lee joined the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) in 1996 after receiving her Ph.D. degree from Seoul National University and served as the director of the Patent Examination Division and the PCT International Search & Preliminary Examination Division, a patent judge of the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board, a national litigation officer, and a patent examiner in various technical fields such as chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and environmental technology. She also served as a technical examiner at the Korean Patent Court, where she gained unparalleled expertise in patent applications, rights, and litigation in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and environmental technology industries. She has also taught patent education at KAIST Graduate School of Intellectual Property and various universities and research institutes in Korea and participated in R&D projects such as national R&D projects and other patent mapping projects.

Ms. Lee has represented and counseled clients in patent disputes in various industries and has provided technical advice on patent applications for securing rights to inventions and IP management strategies for companies. She is also a member of the Steering Committee of the Korea Patent Law Society, a member of the Patent Trial Quality Evaluation Committee of the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board, a member of the SME Technology Dispute Mediation Committee, and a member of the Committee for Mediation of Disputes over Industrial Property Rights of the Korea Intellectual Property Office.
