柳敃碩

Mr. Minseok Yu is currently a partner at Shin & Kim and his practice focuses on digital finance and virtual assets, asset management and private equity, domestic and overseas investment (funds), collective investment, foreign investment, unfair trading under the Capital Markets Act and general legal consulting for financial institutions.

He is concurrently a member of the ESG Practice Group, he advises on the establishment of responsible investment frameworks for private fund managers, UN PRI reporting, and the Stewardship Code, and conducts research on domestic and international ESG legislation.

Mr. Yu graduated from Seoul National University College of Law and Seoul National University School of Law. He also earned his M.B.A. from Korea University Business School in 2024, following his admission to Shin & Kim.

• Advised a number of Korean asset management firms on overseas fund investment and regulatory matters in Korea
• Advised a number of foreign asset management firms and private equity funds on investment and regulations in Korea, and fund registration
• Advised a virtual asset service provider on the improvement of its compliance system and internal regulations
• Advised a fractional ownership business on its application for innovative financial services (sandbox)
• Responded to a FIU inspection of a Korean virtual asset exchange
• Responded to FIU inspections of Korea's No. 1 and No. 2 virtual asset exchanges
• Responded to a criminal investigation against an unregistered investment adviser
• Responded to unfair trade cases under the Capital Markets Act
• Advised Korean private equity fund managers on establishing ESG policies and investment frameworks, as well as matters related to ESG evaluation and management systems for portfolio companies.
• Advised financial companies on implementing a Responsibilities Map under the Act on Corporate Governance of Financial Companies, providing comprehensive consulting throughout the project
• Advised on regulatory issues concerning credit facilities extended to overseas subsidiaries
