Mooil Moon completed the training courses at the Judicial Research & Training Institute in 1989 and then served as a judge advocate. In 1992, he began his prosecutor career in the Daegu District Prosecutors’ Office and then worked as a prosecutor in the Jeonju District Prosecutors’ Office (Namwon Branch), the Seoul District Prosecutors’ Office, the Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office and the Gwangju District Prosecutors’ Office. In 2002, he served as a senior prosecutor at the Seoul District Prosecutors’ Office (secondment to the Joint Enforcement Team on Public Funds Misappropriation led by the Central Investigation Department under the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office), and in the following year, as the director general of Jeju District Prosecutors’ Office (secondment to the special prosecutor team for alleged corruption of President Roh Moo-hyun’s political aides). Thereafter, he led the Special Investigation Support Division, the Digital Forensic Division and the Investigation Division I of Central Investigation Department at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office. In 2008, he also took charge of the Special Investigation Department I at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office and thereafter, he held the position of deputy chief prosecutor at the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office, the Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office, the Busan District Prosecutors’ Office and the Gwangju High Prosecutors’ Office and led, as Chief Prosecutor, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office, the Daejeon District Prosecutors’ Office and the Busan High Prosecutors’ Office. He served as the 42nd Prosecutor General of the Republic of Korea from 2017 to 2019 and joined Shin & Kim in August 2022.
