Mr. Heung-Sik Kim is an Advisor at Shin & Kim, and provides advisory services primarily in the areas of Technology Intelligence and intellectual property (IP) strategy.

Mr. Kim graduated from the Department of Metallurgical Engineering at Yonsei University and has accumulated more than 20 years of extensive practical experience in the field of intellectual property through his work at a major Korean patent law firm and Kim & Chang. In particular, he has extensive expertise in analyzing patents and other technology and market information in an integrated manner to generate insights that support corporate decision-making in R&D, innovation strategy, and intellectual property matters.

Mr. Kim has conducted numerous projects for companies involving the analysis of technology ecosystems and competitive landscapes and, based on such analysis, the identification of new growth opportunities. He has also provided advisory services integrating technology and business strategy, ranging from the scouting and evaluation of emerging technologies to the identification of potential partners, startups, and M&A targets aligned with companies’ strategic objectives.

Mr. Kim takes an analytical approach that goes beyond assessing whether patents have been secured ahead of competitors, focusing instead on identifying the direction of technological developments and the appropriate strategic responses for companies. He provides advisory services that support data-driven decision-making.
