Mr. Hyun-il Hwang is a partner at Shin & Kim, who served as an officer at the Financial Services Commission. As an expert in the fields of financial regulation, licensing, unfair trading in the capital market, digital finance, and virtual assets, he actively provides advice to domestic and foreign financial institutions and fintech and virtual asset companies.

Mr. Hwang has published extensively on various legal issues in the financial sector and has participated as a speaker and panelist at seminars in Korea and abroad. He has served as a member of the Sanctions Review Committee of the Financial Supervisory Service, a member of the Financial Supervisory Service's TF for Improvement of Big Tech Supervision System, a member of the Financial Services Commission's TF for Improvement of fines system, and a member of the TF for the Enactment of the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Online Investment-linked Financial Business, and is currently serving as the Vice President of the Council of Financial Lawyers of the Korean Bar Association, an auditor of the Korea Fintech Industry Association, and a member of the Korea Exchange’s Examination Committee for Listing on KOSDAQ Market, among other active roles externally.

Mr. Hwang was selected by the Korea Economic Daily as one of the best attorneys in the financial sector for three consecutive years in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and by the JoongAng Ilbo as one of the best attorneys for two consecutive years in 2023 in the field of AI, fintech, and virtual assets and in 2024 in the field of finance, securities, and virtual assets. In addition, he was awarded the Advisory Grand Prize at the 7th Korea Legal Awards in 2024, and is highly recognized in the field of finance.

• Advised on the acquisition of multiple financial licenses, including registration of online investment-linked financial services, general private equity fund services, and new technology business financial companies
• Represented client in response to the investigation of unfair transactions in the capital market and criminal defense, including market price manipulation cases such as catching up with the upper limits and high frequency trading, and using material non-disclosed information on the recruitment of famous celebrities
