Shin & Kim Attorney Sang-Hyeok Im held a presentation titled “Legal Execution of Copyrights in Korea and China, and Recent Trends in the Industry” at the 14th Korea-China Copyright Forum co-hosted by the Korean and Chinese government.

Since 2006, the Korea-China Copyright Forum has been held annually under the “Memorandum of Understanding on Exchange and Cooperation in the Field of Copyright Protection” signed between the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism and the National Copyright Administration of China; gathering top experts from the government, industry and academia of the two countries to discuss and exchange views and insights on current copyright issues.

Although Korean content, driven by the ‘Korean Wave,’ has actively ventured into the Chinese market, recently, external circumstances such as THAAD issues have held back the content industry and joint ventures from gaining a strong foothold in the Chinese market. Given such circumstances, the occasion was regarded as a highly meaningful event, as it was hosted by the National Copyright Administration of China, the Chinese authority that screens content.
