Mr. Soon-Youl Kwon is a partner at Shin & Kim and his practice focuses on antitrust, tax, administrative dispute, criminal litigation and civil execution.

Mr. Kwon brings approximately 18 years of judicial experience, during which he handled warrant review matters as well as criminal and civil trials across multiple courts. He later served as a High Court Judge at the Seoul High Court, where he presided over criminal appellate proceedings and administrative appeals with a focus on tax and antitrust matters. Since retiring from the judiciary in 2023, he has been advising on and representing clients in civil, criminal, and administrative (tax and antitrust) disputes, leveraging his extensive judicial background.

In addition, he served as a professor at the Judicial Research and Training Institute, where he lectured on provisional remedies and civil execution law. He also taught civil and criminal practice as an adjunct professor at six law schools, demonstrating broad expertise across civil and criminal law as well as enforcement and execution law.

• Oversaw a trial on whether the head of the Group was involved in unfair support practices between affiliates
• Oversaw a trial on the disposition of the Fair Trade Commission on the allocation of contracts between affiliates
• Oversaw a trial on the disposition of the Fair Trade Commission in relation to whether intellectual property rights were exercised in a lawful manner
• Advised on a civil lawsuit against a telecommunications company on the grounds of violation of the Act on Labeling and Advertising
• Advised on a criminal case concerning the total number of enterprise groups due to violation of the Capital Markets Act
• Advised on a trial seeking a warrant related to fraud in the course of recruiting members by the head of a regional housing association
• Oversaw an administrative litigation and suspension of execution related to restrictions on qualifications for participation in bidding of inappropriate business entities
• Represented a client in a petition for revocation of the Korea Fair Trade Commission's disposition against a pharmaceutical company for unfair customer solicitation
• Represented clients (franchisees) in civil and criminal lawsuits for alleged violations of the Fair Transactions in Franchise Business Act
