Shin & Kim has recently recruited Dong-Wook Kim, a former official of the National Labor Relations Commission and the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
After passing the 46th annual Korean Bar examination (and training in the 36th graduating class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute), Mr. Kim joined the National Labor Relations Commission where he was responsible for litigation management, vacating reexamination decisions relating to various employment related issues including employee dismissal, non-regular workers (fixed term and dispatched workers), unfair labor practices and essential minimum services, analysis of judicial precedents, investigations and adjudication. Thereafter, Mr. Kim served as an administrative officer and a deputy director at the Labor-Relations Legal Affairs Division of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, in charge of litigation management of cases concerning collective labor relations, the establishment and operation of labor unions, collective bargaining, collective agreements, labor strikes, unfair labor practices, and matters related to international organizations such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). During his career at the National Labor Relations Commission and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Mr. Kim also advised on legal issues and participated in major policy-making decisions.
At Shin & Kim’s upcoming seminar entitled “Prospects of Labor-Management Relations in the Second Half of 2014 and Its Countermeasures”, Mr. Kim will give a presentation on the main issues of collective bargaining negotiations, collective bargaining negotiation strategies and reasonable countermeasures.
