Mr. Hyunbokv Lee is a partner in the Litigation Group at Shin & Kim, where he advises on corporate criminal matters, appellate litigation, and major civil and criminal disputes.

Prior to joining Shin & Kim, Mr. Lee served as a judge for 22 years at courts of various levels in Korea. During his judicial career, he held several key positions including Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division at the Seoul Central District Court, Chief Research Judge overseeing the Civil Division and Dedicated Senior Research Judge at the Supreme Court, Head of the Yeoju Branch Court, and Counselor at the Public Affairs Office of the National Court Administration. During this period, he presided over a wide range of cases across diverse practice areas, including civil, criminal, family, bankruptcy, warrant, and enforcement matters, while also participating in judicial administrative work.

In particular, while serving as the Presiding Judge of the 21st Criminal Division (a division dedicated to anti-corruption cases) at the Seoul Central District Court, Mr. Lee handled numerous criminal cases involving executives of major Korean corporations, gaining deep insight into the management and handling of complex corporate criminal matters.

In addition, during his four-year tenure as a Senior Research Judge at the Supreme Court, he served as the Chief Research Judge overseeing the Civil Division as well as a Dedicated Senior Research Judge. In these roles, he supervised the research and management of tens of thousands of complex cases, including en banc cases, contributing to the development of Supreme Court precedents. Through this experience, he has developed strong expertise in handling appellate and Supreme Court-level litigation.
