Introduction

Sang-Hyun Lee is a partner at Shin & Kim and is the head of the Projects and Energy Practice Group.

Since joining the firm in 2000, Mr. Lee has advised clients on various types of banking and finance transactions. He is a trusted expert in power generation, energy, renewable energy (including wind, solar and fuel cells), hydrogen, infrastructure, social overhead capital (SOC), plant construction, natural resources, overseas investment and development, and project financing in these sectors and for other activities.

Drawing on his extensive experience, Mr. Lee provides systematic and in-depth legal counsel. He plays a key role in ensuring the successful closing of deals by balancing the competing interests of project owners, investors, financial institutions, parties to project agreements and other participants in the transaction, throughout the construction and operational phases, as well as with regard to the necessary project finance arrangements and other funding options.

In addition, as the head of the Projects and Energy Group, he strategically and efficiently manage a team of top experts to deliver the best possible results for our clients.

Sang-Hyun Lee’s key practice areas are as follows:

- Onshore and offshore wind power generation projects (Fixed and Floating)
- Renewable energy projects, including fuel cells, solar power, biomass, ESS, and BESS
- Hydrogen projects
- Upstream and downstream natural gas projects, liquefaction and LNG transportation, LNG import/export and regasification, pipeline networks (midstream), terminals, LNG power plants, and other projects related to the global LNG value chain
- Nuclear power, coal-fired power, LNG combined-cycle power, and cogeneration (district heating) projects
- Waste treatment projects
- Nuclear projects
- Credit provision services for public export credit agencies (ECAs) such as the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation
- Establishment and formation of investment vehicles (such as funds) aimed at investing in large-scale overseas infrastructure, plant, and energy projects; execution of investments by pension funds and financial institutions; and related financing
- Legal services for Korea Gas Corporation, Korea National Oil Corporation, Korea Electric Power Corporation, state-owned power generation companies, private energy companies, and other independent power plant operators- Domestic and overseas energy and power generation projects, SOC and infrastructure projects under PPP and PFI models, and resource development projects involving natural gas, oil, and minerals
- Project finance-based funding necessary for the construction and operation of the above projects
- Private investment projects (PPP projects) for social overhead capital (SOC)
