Dong-il Shin is currently an attorney at Shin & Kim, and his main areas of work include advising on various corporate transactions such as M&A and private equity transactions, management disputes, and corporate governance.

Mr. Shin has advised domestic and foreign companies and funds in various industries on amicable corporate acquisitions and mergers and joint ventures. He has also advised raiders and defenders in a number of management dispute cases.

Mr. Shin graduated from Seoul National University College of Business Administration, obtained a J.D. from Seoul National University School of Law, and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Commercial Law from Seoul National University College of Law. In 2021 and 2022, he prepared The Private Equity Review Part II, Investing - “Korea” chapter published by Law Business Research (co-authored), and in July 2022, he wrote an article on online general meeting of shareholders for the Seoul National University Business/Finance/Law Center (BFL) (co-authored).

In addition, Dong-il Shin was seconded to Samsung Biologics for six months from February 2021 to provide various advice.

• Advised LX Investment on the acquisition of SSP, a semiconductor equipment manufacturer, and NH Recytech, a waste disposal company.
• Advised Mirae Asset Management on the acquisition of ETF Securities Australia.
• Advised CITIC Capital on investment in Organica.
• Advised on the sale of Bukwang Pharm management rights to OCI.
• Advised Lotte Healthcare on joint venture with Company T.
• Advised Yesco ES on the spin-off of the service part and sale of surviving corporation after spin-off.
• Advised KDB Industrial Bank Key Industry Stabilization Fund on investment and loan of perpetual bonds to Jeju Air.
• Advised the Shareholders’ Council including KDB Industrial Bank on the sale of Hanjin Heavy Industries to the Dongbu Construction Consortium.
