Shin & Kim LLC Appoints Six New Managing Partners

SHIN & KIM LLC (“Shin & Kim”), led by Managing Partner Jong-Han Oh, announced on March 12, 2026 that six partners recognized for their expertise and leadership in key practice areas have been newly appointed as managing partners following a general meeting of members.

The newly appointed managing partners are Chang-young Choi, Yeong-soo Jang, Tong-gun Lee, Jae-young Chang, Yun-seok Jang, and Sin-ook Kang. Each brings extensive experience, expertise and industry recognition in core legal sectors including corporate litigation, criminal law, M&A, finance, and ICT. Notably, this appointment marks a generational shift, with attorneys in their 50s who have played pivotal roles in their respective practice groups now stepping forward as firm leaders.

Shin & Kim explained that the appointment of additional managing partners is a strategic move to strengthen governance and enhance responsiveness to rapidly evolving internal and external environments and increasingly sophisticated client demands.

With this appointment, Shin & Kim now operates under a leadership structure of 13 managing partners, led by Jong-Han Oh (Managing Partner), and consisting of Kyung-don Lee (18th term), Mooil Moon (18th term), Ghyo-sun Park (20th term), Jin-ho Jeong (20th term), Je-heum Baik (20th term), Chang-young Choi (24th term), Yeong-soo Jang (24th term), Yong-woo Lee (28th term), Tong-gun Lee (29th term), Jae-young Chang (29th term), Yun-seok Jang (30th term), and Sin-ook Kang (33rd term).

The firm plans to leverage the expertise of its managing partners through a seamless and organic collaborative framework to deliver sophisticated, multi-dimensional legal strategies in response to increasingly complex regulatory environments and emerging industry risks.

In the litigation practice, Attorney Chang-young Choi, an expert in corporate litigation and criminal trials, and Attorney Yeong-soo Jang, a former Chief Prosecutor of the Daegu High Prosecutors’ Office, have been appointed as new managing partners.

Attorney Chang-young Choi (24th term) is a star litigator in corporate and criminal cases, having served as Chief Judge of the Criminal Division at the Seoul Central District Court, Director of Criminal Policy at the National Court Administration, and Presiding Judge at the Daejeon High Court. He later founded Haegwang Law Firm, where he successfully handled numerous high-profile criminal and corporate litigation cases, including securing acquittals for the heads of major domestic conglomerates in cases involving violations of the Capital Markets Act. He joined Shin & Kim in April of last year and currently leads the firm’s Corporate Litigation Group.

Attorney Yeong-soo Jang (24th term), former Chief Prosecutor at Daegu High Prosecutors’ Office, has built expertise in financial crimes, tax, and corporate governance while serving in key departments including at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office and the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office. He then founded Ilwoo Law Firm, where he handled numerous major corporate criminal cases, including violations of the Capital Markets Act involving large domestic conglomerates and listed companies, as well as embezzlement and breach of trust cases and cases related to virtual assets. He joined Shin & Kim in June 2025, and currently leads the Criminal Defense Group.

In the advisory practice, Attorneys Tong-gun Lee, Jae-young Chang, Yun-seok Jang, and Sin-ook Kang have been appointed as managing partners based on their seasoned expertise, representing Shin & Kim’s core strengths in M&A, corporate finance, and ICT.

Attorney Tong-gun Lee (29th term) is an M&A specialist with a track record in advising various corporate transactions including inbound/outbound M&A, private equity deals, hostile takeover defense, and pre-IPO investments. Leveraging his exceptional negotiation skills, he has successfully led numerous landmark transactions and is recognized as a lawyer who combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, sharing his expertise through publications, seminars, and lectures. For several years, he led Shin & Kim’s Corporate Advisory and M&A Group and spearheaded the firm’s growth. Currently, as the Head of Shin & Kim’s Corporate Governance Strategy Center, he is also actively engaged in the fields of corporate governance and shareholder disputes.

Attorney Jae-young Chang (29th term) currently serves as the head of the Corporate Advisory and M&A Group at Shin & Kim. For over 20 years, he has advised domestic and international companies and funds on M&A and joint venture transactions across a wide range of industries. In particular, he has successfully executed complex, highly sophisticated M&A deals, including carve-out deals involving the spin-off and sale of business units from large conglomerates, and is annually selected as a “Best Lawyer” in the M&A field by major domestic and international media outlets. Recently, he advised on major transactions such as the rebalancing transaction of SK Group affiliates and the merger of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and HD Hyundai Mipo, further strengthening Shin & Kim’s M&A advisory capabilities and playing a pivotal role in securing the firm a top-tier position in major domestic M&A league tables.

Attorney Yun-seok Jang (30th term) is a financial expert currently leading Shin & Kim’s Corporate Finance Group. He has successfully led numerous major transactions in the field of domestic and international financial advisory services, which require complex financing structures. In particular, he has accumulated extensive practical experience and expertise by advising on corporate finance and alternative investment transactions across various industries—including major acquisition finance deals such as EQT’s acquisition of SK Shieldus and the acquisition of SKC’s film business division—as well as transactions involving TaylorMade, JobKorea, Homeplus, Lotte Card, Doosan Machine Tools, and CJ Olive Young.

Attorney Sin-ook Kang (33rd term) is an expert in ICT regulation, who has overseen advisory services on digital industry regulations, including AI, data, and platforms, and currently serves as the head of Shin & Kim’s ICT Group. With a focus on the TMT team, he successively launched the Personal Information & Data Team and the New Business Platform Team, systematically establishing Shin & Kim’s ICT regulatory response unit and establishing a model for addressing ICT regulations that combines legal advice with policy consulting in Korea. Drawing on his experience in policy design at government agencies such as the Ministry of Information and Communication, the Korea Communications Commission, and the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, as well as his deep understanding of the industry, he provides advisory services on digital regulation, data protection, and platform policy to domestic and international platform companies, telecommunications carriers, and content and media firms. Notably, he has handled major cases in the digital industry, including pay-TV M&A, platform regulatory compliance, disputes between telecommunications carriers and platforms (over network usage fees), and large-scale personal data breaches and hacking incidents.

Attorney Jong-Han Oh, Managing Partner (18th term), stated, “This expansion of our leadership team is intended to enable our key partners—who will drive sustained growth in their respective practice areas—to listen more closely to our clients’ needs and provide integrated solutions.” He added, “The 13 managing partners will work together to provide even higher-quality services to clients and continue Shin & Kim’s robust growth trajectory.”
